Tulips
Tulips are my favorite flowers. Their simplicity has captured my heart and their elegant shape captivate me every spring. Tulips are often seen as a symbol of perfect love, rebirth, and renewal. And I really adore the idea of perfect & undying love. Call me a naive romantic but I hope to find a love like this in my lifetime.
I used a macro lens to photograph the first five images in this post. I laid the tulip against light blue cardstock paper and used natural light from my patio door.
In addition to a macro lens, I broke out the Petzval 85mm. I have a colorful window cling that creates a beautiful swirl of bokeh and rainbow when the delicious morning light shines through it.
I enjoy experimenting with new materials when photographing. I used a thin plastic drop sheet and tried to photograph the tulips through it against the rainbow backdrop. I think it made for an interesting set of photos!
